High number of respiratory diseases

Article

12. 12. 2022

Dear clients,

We would like to inform you that due to a high number of respiratory diseases, we have temporarily suspended appointments for preventive check-ups at practitioners and paediatricians for all adult clients and children older than 18 months.

We would also like to apologise for longer waiting times at our clinics that may occur if there are a higher number of clients in acute need of medical treatment. At present, we are also intermittently experiencing a higher number of incoming calls to our helpdesk. We apologise for your inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.

How to proceed if your child is ill:

  • Do not send the ill child, which shows the symptoms of illness, to kindergarten or school.
  • Inhalations with the Vincentka mineral water have proved to be most effective for removing phlegm and decongesting the respiratory tract; you can also try over-the-counter medicines such as Sinupret or Bronchipret.
  • Rinse the nose with sea water; suck out phlegm for those children who are unable to blow their noses.
  • Reduce body temperature if it exceeds 38 °C.
  • Ventilate your home frequently, and if your child does not have a raised temperature, allow him or her to be outdoors for a short period of time.
  • At present, illnesses that last a number of days are predominant. Continue home treatment, if you can see that the symptoms are gradually subsiding.

When to consult a paediatrician:

  • If the symptoms of the illness last for a number of days without any tendency toward improvement.
  • If rash, vomiting, diarrhoea or other complications occur.

We recommend an examination in a paediatrician’s office:

  • If the child has a severe sore throat, a high fever that is difficult to bring down.
  • If the child is apathetic, does not want to eat, drinks too little.
  • If the breathing of the child is laboured.

We wish to assure you that we are doing our best to fully satisfy the increased demand from you, while protecting your health and the health of your beloved ones.

We thank you for your understanding and we wish you good health.
